Portia and Nerissa take the ring joke further
The scene opens in a street of Venice where Portia and Nerissa still dressed as men, are seen searching for Shylock’s house. Portia tells Nerissa that they will get Shylock’s signature on the deed and leave for Belmont because they want to reach there before their husbands. Gratiano overtakes them and presents to Portia the ring of Bassanio. He asks them to join him for dinner but they refuse. Nerissa tells Portia that she would also get her ring from her husband. They both plan to tease their husbands with this stratagem.
