Answer: We can emphatically say that home science is a science as well an art related to modern housekeeping. Home science involves hygiene,economics,child development,social behavior,family relations,art,food,nutrition,clothing,child psychology,interior decoration and many more. Home science aims at developing an individual,his/her knowledge,attitude,value and skills that guide one to meet personal needs and aspiration of an individual in tune with family and community.

Home science enables us to achieve and maintain the welfare and well being of home and family in an ever changing society. A career in home science is best suited for modern women with good aesthetic sense regarding contemporary arts,home decoration and house keeping.

Question 19 : How does the study of Home Science offer complete range of careers?

Answer: Earlier Home Science was considered as the last option for higher studies,even among girls. It was a domain restricted to women. But things have changed now. People are getting good jobs in many sectors after studying Home Science at graduate and post graduate levels.Hotel industry,hospital,home management,consumer affairs,community and family issues,food and nutrition are some of the areas associated with Home Science.

It has also taken into its fold child development,teaching,microbiology,food processing,quality control etc. In days to come it is going to become an area of highly specialised and trained researchers in home management along with social engineering.

Answer: After studying Home Science and acquiring skills in child care and development an aspirant can do the following things:
